Martin was elected to the FAB Board in 2010. He Chairs the FAB International Relationships Group and recently Chaired the FAB Scotland Advisory Group and the FAB Centre Relationships Group. SQA has been a member of FAB for many years and Martin has represented SQA at the FAB national conferences and fully participated in the workshops and debates. He has attended and actively participated in several FAB working groups over the years.
Martin was the lead SQA officer for its original Part A submission, the Test & Trial pilot; and, more recently, its Supplementary Recognition submission. Having been a member of SQA on the Board he continues to recognise more fully the diversity of the membership and compliment the balance of existing members and Awarding Bodies.
SQA is the national awarding body in Scotland, but for its growing UK market it is a relatively small awarding body offering a range of Awards, Certificates and Diplomas as well as other VRQs. Martin also brings a knowledge of the skills and funding scene in Scotland and its sometimes diverse nature; and experience of representing SQA on UK and international projects and consultancies. His own background has been on vocational qualifications within SQA and in the area of Quality Assurance. He has also worked for Scottish Enterprise (the vocational funding body in Scotland) on nationally funded training programmes, and the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, as Skills Policy Manager, representing the voice of employers in Scotland.
