The Assessment Analyst will play a key role in helping BCS to understand the performance of its exams within the 3 portfolios and potential exam content as well as safeguarding the security of our exam assets by recognising patterns of concern with the support from Product Managers and Developers.

They will assist in the analysis and presentation of performance information which will be used in order to further improve quality and identify potential issues which may arise, enabling feedback to examination supply chain stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect, analyse, interpret, provide insight and present examination performance data using MI tools, diagrams, tables, charts, graphs, and reports.
  • Collate statistical analysis of pass rates, reliability coefficient, relative item performance and trends over time and geographies. Help ensure equivalence of difficulty between different versions of the same examination.
  • Create, maintain and recommend a schedule of exam maintenance required, following analysis, in conjunction with Product Managers and Developers.
  • Document policies and standard operating procedures for exam data management activities within the team.
  • Create regular monthly performance dashboards and reports and feedback insight to relevant product practice areas with the ability to summarise and present the results of data analysis making recommendations.
  • Consider, with the team, corrective action required should reports indicate the need for mitigation and provide necessary input into a quality/schedule of exam maintenance log.
  • Understand the product development process and contribute to meeting objectives.
  • Continually looking at ways to make improvements to systems, processes, and procedures
  • Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director;

Skills and experience

  • Graduate with a degree in a mathematical/statistics subject or equivalent is desirable
  • Proven experience in statistical analysis using tools such as WinSteps, Excel or SPSS
  • Basic understanding with psychometric concepts i.e. Cronbach Alpha, Standard Error of Measurement and Facility Values, would be advantageous
  • Experience of the QuestionMark platform is desirable
  • Experience of Assessment is desirable
  • Excellent analytical skills and expertise with statistical information
  • An advanced level user of Microsoft Office Suite in particular Excel
  • Proactive and interested in using data to identify issues and propose solutions and improvements
  • Able to present results and findings to all stakeholders
  • Able to use communication and influencing skills to work with internal stakeholders
  • Able to prioritise own time and workload, under minimum supervision and to tight deadlines
  • Good understanding of statistical techniques
  • An understanding of assessment methodologies and techniques is desirable
