Summary of the role

An Assessment Lead (Sports, Active Health and Leisure) is required to take responsibility for developing VTCT’s assessment and examination products and to act as Chief Examiner on marked and moderated qualifications. 

The Assessment Lead is the most senior authority in the company on assessments within their specialist field.  

The group of VTCT companies includes: the charity VTCT through which main Board business and governance is transacted; Digital Assess Software Ltd which is a wholly owned trading subsidiary of VTCT;  and EMS Ltd, t/a ITEC, a wholly owned trading subsidiary of VTCT.      

Key Responsibilities  

  • To write, review and edit qualifications, assessments and support materials.
  • Mark and moderate examination scripts and lead a team of markers and moderators.
  • Manages a team of external contractors.
  • Responsible for advising on assessment targeting strategies and for training, ongoing support and monitoring the performance of a team of writers, markers and moderators.
  • Responsible for highly technical and specialist work, with far-reaching accountability for VTCT products within Hospitality.
  • Provides technical support to other departments within the Company.
  • Representing VTCT on sector forums and expert panels.      

Key Requirements:  

  • Comprehensive understanding and experience of developing assessment and examination products.
  • Experience of acting as Chief Examiner within Sports, Active Health and Leisure.
  • Experience of writing, reviewing and editing qualifications, assessments and support materials.
  • Management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience of establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with both internal and external customers.

Education: Educated to degree level or equivalent.  

This full-time post attracts a generous package of terms and conditions including 25 days holiday per annum (pro rata) and a group stakeholder pension.
