Summary of the role
The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) is the professional body for facilities management, with over 17,000 individual members and 600 corporate members. Our mission: “The professional body responsible for promoting excellence in facilities management for the benefit of practitioners, the economy and society”.
BIFM is an Ofqual regulated Awarding Organisation and has worked with employers in our sector to develop a suite of facilities management qualifications at levels 2/3/4/5/6 and 7. These are all accredited in the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
As part of our continuing growth the Awarding Organisation (AO) Committee has positions to fill in order for it to further its pursuit in monitoring and evaluating the Awarding Organisation’s policies and procedures against the General Conditions of Recognition issued by Ofqual ensuring statutory compliance. BIFM is committed to being best in class and the AO Committee plays a key role in helping to ensure we deliver excellent standards across the AO functions.
The applicant should have experience of Ofqual and the RQF requirements and is likely to hold/have held a senior position in an Awarding Organisation. He/she will be appointed by a panel of the BIFM Executive/Board together with the Chair of the AO Committee, and the appointment will be referenced to the Nominations Committee and subject to Board approval.
The position is not remunerated but attracts an annual honorarium, reasonable expenses and Affiliate membership of BIFM for the two year period of office.
BIFM has a dedicated AO team, based at our Head Office in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, where committee meetings will be held.
