Summary of the role
There’s never been a better time to become Chief Executive of the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB). With record membership levels and exceptional membership satisfaction rates, FAB is strengthening its role as the legitimate voice of awarding in the UK, and the Board are ambitious about its strategy for future membership engagement, income generation and sector-based impact.
FAB needs someone to raise the profile of the organisation at a time of key policy changes in areas of post-16 skills, apprenticeships and functional skills reform. The membership, their customers and learners need a voice, clarity and certainty, and the Chief Executive will play a key part in delivering this for the awarding sector through enhancing relationships with UK Government, Institutes, regulators and other key stakeholders. As major reforms take shape, the Chief Executive will, through FAB, support our members to be aware of the risks ahead and to take the opportunities presented by change. For FAB you will ensure our growth and enhance our impact.
The Chief Executive will have immediate opportunities to lead change as a strong influencer, negotiator and lobbyist with the profile and authority to affect national policy makers, Whitehall and UK Government. The FAB team of staff are well established, and high performing, which allows the Chief Executive to spend the majority of their time working with members, stakeholders and building networks and relationships that will enhance FAB’s profile and influence. An in-depth understanding of the education and skills sector the funding context and delivery challenges is important; and in this context, we are looking for somebody who can develop a compelling vision for the future of our sector and inspire a wide range of stakeholders to support it. You do not need to be based in London as long as you have accessible transport links to the capital and are willing to travel.
