Summary of the role

NOCN is a leading UK Ofqual approved Awarding Organisation (AO) that works in the UK and internationally. NOCN offers a wide range of qualifications and apprenticeships in sectors such as business administration, construction, financial services, health and social care, retail, security and facilities management, and warehousing and logistics.

It has continued to grow both in the UK and internationally and as such is seeking to expand its bank of External Quality Assurers (EQAs).

EQA’s will quality assure the assessment and verification of learners’ work for a specific qualification or suite of qualifications and, where appropriate, will be a specialist in the field. EQA’s will also carry out checks of a centre's quality systems as part of the ongoing centre monitoring process or as a risk assessment as part of the Centres Recognition process.

Role Requirements

To be considered, External Quality Assurers must have:

  • A thorough knowledge of their occupational area, and where applicable, appropriate sector-specific qualification and experience.
  • Teaching or Training experience and qualifications
  • An external verification or external quality assurance qualification (D35, V2 or Level 4 Award in the External Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (or be willing to work towards)

  • ESOL Skills for Life (Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, London, Oxfordshire)
  • First Aid (UK wide)
  • Forest Schools (UK wide)
  • Functional Skills (Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, London, Oxfordshire)
  • Health Screening (UK wide)
  • Hospitality and Catering (UK wide)
  • IT User (UK wide)
  • Preventing and Tackling Domestic and Sexual Abuse/Violence
  • Productivity Improvement (UK wide)
  • Safeguarding Children and Young People
  • Security Industry (Birmingham, London, Northern Ireland and Scotland) 
  • Warehousing and Storage (UK wide)
  • Youth Work (UK wide)

NOCN will provide training and updating sessions for all of its External Quality Assurers through a variety of training methods such as webinars, briefings and updates which will ensure that they are kept up to date with qualification requirements and quality assurance procedures.

Additional Requirements

EQAs will have excellent communication, organisation and planning skills in addition to good IT skills and be competent working with online reports. Must have own IT equipment. Ongoing maintenance of own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) will be required so that NOCN is confident competency is up to date, in line with qualification requirements.
