Department for Education (DfE) Awarding Organisation Vocational Qualifications (AOVQ) Group

Last week, the DfE AOVQ Group met to discuss matters relating to qualifications in the KS4 and KS5 performance tables.The meeting included a useful introduction by DfE which provided an overview of the direction of travel of the returning ministers in this education policy area.

Earlier today, Ofqual emailed regulatory letter RO36 – closing the unit bank to responsible officers. The letter encourages all awarding organisations (AOs) to permit the awarding organisations that are currently using shared units to treat those units as their own in the future.

At the end of last week, Ofqual hosted the first meeting of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Awarding Organisations (AO) Users Group, which Ofqual arranged, in collaboration with FAB to involve AOs in the development of the replacement system for the Regulatory IT System (RITS), the Register and the AO Portal.
