Having joined VTCT in January 2016 as CEO, Alan’s vision for technical and vocational education, including apprenticeships, is accurately reflected in all that VTCT and iTEC as a charity sets out to achieve.
Alongside providing learners with a direct line of sight to a job with end-to end industry recognised qualifications and assessments suitable for the world stage, Alan’s vision is focused on delivering new qualifications and assessments, which give learners more skills, leading to better pay.
Prior to joining VTCT, Alan ran his own company consulting on apprenticeships and learning, and previously, leading a major Sector Skills Council as CEO.
Alan has a first degree from the Open University, an MBA from Henley Business School, and a post graduate diploma in organisational development with Ashridge Business School. He was appointed OBE in 2004 for services to sustainable development.
In his spare time Alan is a keen rugby referee, and is Vice Chair of Governors of Walsall FE College.
