Ofqual

England’s independent regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments.

As England’s independent regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments Ofqual’s job is to maintain standards, to make sure that qualifications accurately reflect the knowledge and skills people have attained through a range of different learning methods.

We work with other Civil Service departments across the spectrum of education to deliver on our priorities and to ensure the best possible outcomes for learners in England. We are actively involved in the transformation of the technical education landscape in England, using our expertise and regulatory powers to secure the validity of, and promote public confidence in, qualifications the government introduces to meet England’s needs.

Ofqual is currently undergoing an exciting period of growth and there has never been a more exciting time to work for us as we take on our expanded role in the external quality assurance of Apprenticeships and continue to deal with the challenges presented by Covid-19.

As a field-based Manager, you will be part of the Vocational and Technical Qualification (VTQ) Field Team, and will support the delivery of effective regulation of VTQ assessments, specifically Apprenticeship End Point Assessments (EPAs). You will coordinate and support the monitoring, evaluating and reporting on a range of assessment activities. You will commission and coordinate the use of sector experts to support our work, and you will track and report on our team’s progress.

You will need to have an organised and structured approach to your work and able to provide solid governance and project support, which will ensure the work of the Field Team helps deliver the wider organisational objectives.

We have two Manager, Assessment Delivery roles available. One is a permanent post, and the other is a fixed term appointment for 18-months. Both posts are in the same team, within the VTQ directorate.

Ofqual is a rewarding, dynamic place to work. The team strongly encourages flexible working and personal learning & development.

Diversity and Inclusion is important to us. We actively encourage applications both from those within the Civil Service, and outside. We particularly encourage applications from those of a BAME background and those with disabilities, who are currently under-represented within Ofqual at this level.

We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
